The Glacial Wood team is made up of dedicated and skilled craftsmen. Led by company founder, Dick Johnson, Glacial Wood Products is the largest custom wood turning company in the United States. Besides the state of the art equipment and software, Glacial Wood has a talented workforce of wood professionals. Glacial Wood Products staff offers personal attention and care for detail.


Dick Johnson owns Glacial Wood Products and MaxBat. For more than 20 years, he's guided Glacial Wood Products to become the largest custom wood turnign company in the industry.Dick Johnson

Glacial Wood Products is led by Richard “Dick” Johnson. He started the company as a small wood working shop that specialized in craft items and wooden plates. For almost 20 years he’s guided Glacial Wood Products to become the largest custom wood turning company in the industry.

Dick still manufacturers craft items, but his vision has expanded and he now oversees the creation of some of the best wood components manufactured in the United States.

Dick also owns a division of Glacial Wood Products, MaxBat. Together with his son, Paul, Dick manufactures baseball bats for both the professional and amateur level player. The meticulous craftsmanship and high level of engineering produces a bat with superior balance, tremendous strength and outstanding durability. MaxBat bats are highly regarded by many Major League players as the best in the market.

Besides overseeing two successful businesses, Dick also farms. He and his wife live on a small farm near Glenwood, Minnesota where they raise hay and cattle. Dick is also very busy keeping up with his eight grandsons.

Mark C. GreweMark C. Grewe, Vice President

Mark has 19 years of sales experience, 6 of those with Glacial Wood as Sales Manager.  He brings to the table a unique approach to building customer partnerships.  He graduated from Charleston University by attending night classes while on active duty with the U.S. Air Force.

Mark lives in Hutchinson MN and has 3 children.  His son lives in Omaha NE and is married with 2 daughters.  His oldest daughter lives in Atlanta GA and is married with one daughter.  His youngest daughter is currently attending college at the University of Minnesota.

John Wuollet is skilled in making wood balusters, wood columns, wood spindles, wood newels, wood posts, wood table legs, cabinet parts and finials.John Wuollet, Production Manager

John joined the Glacial Wood team in January of 1994 as a lathe operator. He brought with him experience in lumber handling and storage. John also is a skilled craftsman with a variety of wood working skills. At Glacial Wood Products he became an expert at turning plates, balusters, legs posts. In 2006, John's skills earned him the position of Production Manager. John emphasizes creating quality products and shortening lead times at the Glacial Wood production facility.

Outside of Glacial Wood Products, John enjoys spending time with his family on their hobby farm.

Char Nelson is the accountant for Glacial Wood Products, a company that makes unfinished wood turnings, , wood finials, wood dowels, wood rosettes, wood molding, wood trim, wood columns, custom wood columns, custom wood turning, decorative wood columns, wood column, wood moldings, architectural wood columns, wood products, carved wood appliques, exotic wood dowels, cnc wood turning, and wood drawer pulls.Char Nelson, Accountant

Char Nelson is an enthusiastic and proud member of the Glacial Wood Products team. Char has worked as an accountant for GWP since 1997. Her focus is on customer service and accounting processes for Glacial Wood Products.

Besides spending time with her family, Char also enjoys working in her perennial garden.

Jim Lowinske is a skilled lumber professional with 20 years of experience in the wood industry. He joined the Glacial Wood Products to handle sales in 2007. He brings experience in interior millwork and hardwood wholesale sales to the Glacial Wood Products team. Jim enjoys working with his clients to find solutions to their wood turning dilemmas. Jim grew up in Minnesota and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He lives near Hutchinson, Minnesota with his family.

Sarah HagenSarah Hagen, Office Manager

Sarah joined the Glacial Wood Team in June of 2012 as Office Manager.  She brings with her 10 years of customer service and accounting experience. 

She graduated from Southwest State University with a degree in Finance and lives in Brooten MN with her husband and 2 children. 

In her free time she enjoys golfing, bowling and scrap-booking.
